I've had the privilege of working with tremendous students and post-docs over the years, both at Woods Hole and at the University of Wyoming. I've learned something from each of my students and post-docs, and hopefully I've managed to teach them a trick or two along the way. Here's a photo album of my group, past and present.
Team Holbrook
Current Students
Alicia joined Team Holbrook in fall 2010. She came to us with a B.S. in physics from Eastern Illinois University. She's working on seismic oceanography.
Current Post-docs
Tanya came to UW with a PhD in geophysics from UC-Davis and a one-year postdoc in Grenoble, France. She is working on seismic oceanography at UW -- specifically, processing a unique 3D dataset donated by ExxonMobil, to produce a 3D image of thermohaline finestructure in the ocean. (Note that Tanya has been too busy making images of the ocean to send me an image of herself. But this one seems appropriate...)
Former Students
Pedro, who is currently a geophysicist at BritishPetroleum in London, England, came to UW with an M.S. in geophysics from Ohio State University and a B.S. in physics from Madrid, Spain. At UW he worked on the deep structure of the Gulf of California rifted margin off Cabo San Lucas and seismic oceanography (conducting the first AVO analysis of oceanic reflections). Here he is shown on the fantail of the R/V Ewing in 2002 in the Gulf of California. He always looked this happy.
Former Post-docs
Harm, seen here aboard the R/V Ewing in 2000 on our Newfoundland Basin cruise, came to UW with a Ph.D. from Scripps Institution of Oceanography. At UW he worked on the deep structure of the South Island, New Zealand, and the Newfoundland Basin rifted margin. He is currently a Research Associate at the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics.
