Internal tides on Line 40.

Norwegian Sea Line 40, showing prominent, upward-concave reflection packets near the continental slope.  These reflections cross isotherms and mimic the expected shape of M2 internal tides (yellow lines).  These are the strongest such reflections in the entire survey; we believe this is likely because the slope here has a large planar area that is very near the critical angle of M2 (note similarity of slope angle and inclination of M2 characteristic where it intersects the slope).
